When do I need to retune my Set top box?
Your set top box needs to be retuned only if any new channel is added or if the channel line up has been changed in the network. If you have a Humax STB supplied by Pehla, then it has got a feature called Automatic channel update by which a power reboot will add all the new channels or update the channel line-up.
Why should I keep my STB always ON?
You should keep the STB always ON or on STANDBY on any of your subscribed channels even while you are not watching to ensure that you smartcard is always ready to accept any sort of key update information from the network.
Will I see my channels working when I return back from holidays if I had switched OFF my STB during my holidays?
If the STB was switched OFF for quite some time, then upon switching ON there are every chances that your smartcard does not have the latest decoding key information and hence will not open the channels. So leave the STB switched ON for sometime on any of your subscribed channels. The picture should be received within 3 to 5 minutes. Please call your distributor to refresh your smartcard in case it still does not work.
How can I change the soundtrack of my channels?
If the program has got a dual soundtrack i.e. Arabic and English, you can alternate between soundtracks by pressing the sound track button {button with (speaker sign with?) in most of the STB’s} and then by selecting the required language. Please refer Selecting soundtrack.
How can I retune my STB?
Please refer to the retuning instructions of the popular STB’s below. If your STB brand is not found in it, please refer to it’s User manual or contact your distributor.
Why do I receive E-16 Message on my channel?
The E-16 message means that your smartcard is not entitled to watch that channel. The reasons could be any one of the following:
• You have not subscribed to this channel.
• Your subscription is expired.
• Your STB was switched OFF and hence smartcard needs to be refreshed.
Please refer to commonly received STB Error message for more information on other messages.
Why do I loose the channels sometimes?
There are 2 major reasons for loosing a channel:
No signal or a bad quality of signal from the dish: This could be due to bad weather, in which case, the signal will automatically restore when the sky becomes clear – unless the dish permanently moves due to heavy winds. Alternatively due to misalignment of the dish, faulty LNB, rusted cable connectors or a faulty cable. These may need a technician’s visit to restore the services.
Smartcard not active for the channel It could be that your subscription is expired or your smartcard does not have the latest encryption keys to open the subscribed channels. If you are sure that your subscription is active, leave the decoder ON for a few minutes on one of your subscribed channels and if the channel does not come ON, please call your distributor and request for a smartcard reauthorization or renew you subscription if it is expired.
